Recently I got several new DVD/Blu-Ray writers to review on Swedish Tech Report, with all of these burners/writers I have gotten PowerDvd 8 with them. There has been a big issue with this software, it manages to blue screen my computer each time I try to read a blu-ray or DVD.  For fun I download the new version, called PowerDvd 10 and it seems to work without any trouble and no blue screen on my desktop.  To further test this I downloaded the latest version of ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 and Corel WinDvd and they did not give me any issues at all. So my recommendation would be to check the software that you have gotten with your Blu-ray/DVD writers
