Why I moved over to Android as my main plattform

I have from the start always been a Windows Mobile/Windows Phone guy, but have had an affair with the iPhone;-) Shortly thought, but I enjoyed the experience that it gave me. That one did not last a long time for me I moved back to Windows Phone and the Xperia X2 from Sony Ericsson. Personally I liked the news that came from Microsoft about the Windows Phone Series 7, but with the information that has popped out about Windows Phone Series 7 I am not certain that it may be the right plattform for me. I am certain that it will be the right one for plenty of people out there, but just not for me.

This is what made move over to Android and the HTC Legend. Ok actually both the HTC Legend and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10:-). Two different Android units that have different purposes. The Legend runs on Android 2.1 (Eclair) while the X10 runs on 1.6 (Donut).

I did not know if Widgets was the right thing for me, but now I really do like it. What is cool about my HTC Legend is that I can add both the default Android Widgets and the HTC Widgets. With my current layout I have both default and HTC Widgets. Then I have downloaded a couple of nifty widgets that are availible from the Android marketplace. As I said in an earlier post you can find 978 different Widgets just by doing a search for “widgets” in the Android marketplace.

To be honest my main reason for switching to Android OS was the customisation options. I have really come to enjoy the experience with Android OS and what I can do with it:-) I can not until we get a marketpalce with the ability to purchase applications:-)

One thing that I wanted to try with Android was the experience when using my device as a music player. To try this I decided that I did not want to use my Zune HD for a week. When I realised that my listening focused mainly around podcasts and that I owned the MP3 files that I usually listened to. Honestly I did not miss my Zune pass.

In my honest opionion my Android experience has been really excellent. I have come to realise that I do not use all that applications that I had installed. The only thing that I have added at the moment is a twitter application.
