Playing with the HTC Legend

I have for the last couple of days been playing with the HTC Legend. I combines the 2.1 version of Android, otherwise also known as Eclair with the HTC Sense software.

Screenwise it has a 3.2 AMOLED Screen that works beautifully. When we had good weather yesterday here in Sweden I took the Legend for a spin outside. It was beautiful.

One thing that I found to be really cool with the Sense layout was the different options that you could customize your device with. You could change the layout on the clock if you want to or add an calendar to the front screen for easy viewing of your latest calendar items.  There is plenty of things that you could add to the screens on your android device. I did a search for widgets on the Android markeptlace and came up with 987 different widges that you can add to your device. Plenty of options here for your

I have found some really cool software on the Android marketplace. What I like is that the way that you install the software practically feels bulletproof. The only thing I can say that I would have liked to see on the marketplace is the option of purchasing applications and some good games for it. There is no good games on the Android marketplace, well atleast the Swedish marketplace :-)

So far here is the list of software that I have installed onto my device:

  • Seesmic
  • Aftonbladet Supenytt
  • BBC News
  • Linkedin
  • Dropbox
  • OI File Manager
  • Rix FM
  • Foursquare (yes I know it can be annoying but I do like it from time to time:-) )
  • USA Today
  • Opera Mini 5 Beta

This is the software utilities that I have installed so far onto my device. I like that HTC added the QuickOffice software that allows easy access for writing and editing Office documents.

I almost forgot about the perhaps coolest software utilities that I have found so far, Fringe. Allows me to easily make Skype calls while both on 3G and WLAN. While using 3 Swedens HSDPA network I have found the call quality to be excellent.

Using Android feels like when I forst got my Jornada 525 a couple of years ago. The customising optinos on the device feels like they are endless. Perfectly good for me:-)
