I have previously played with the Doro PhoneEasy 410 and found the experience to be really good nad today I have the PhoneEasy 615 comes with 3G, better camera and color screen. The 615 makes a great phone even greater by offering a phone back to basics phone for those that are looking for phone that does not have any off the complications that a smartphone has today.
It’s a simple phone for simple purpose – make and receive calls and text messages offered in a package that is both easy to use and does what it is supposed to do.
I love the feeling you have in your hand when you hold the PhoneEasy 615 – it is not often that you get this good feeling. It has a curvy design that makes it fit better when you hold it in the palm of your hand. On the phone you can find a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash on the front of the device, but you also have a small display that shows you time and caller ID. On the right side you have the volume rocker and on the left side of the device there is USB port aswell as a headphone jack.
If we instead flip the phone open – there is two inch display and a keypad with large and well spaced keys that includes both dedicated camera and SMS buttons that takes you directly to these features if you click on the buttons. Overall you really get a feeling that Doro has thought a lot about the user and how they are going to use the 615 easily. I would love to see that other manufacturers put the same thought behind their phones as Doro has done.
The software portion of the phone has clearly been optimized to make it as streamlined as the design of the phone. One example that I would like to point is the settings menu for the contacts, camera and messages. It is easy to enter and configure the phone as you want it to be. Other manufacturers can really learn something from Doro.
Both calling and sending a text message is really easy – just a couple of clicks away. One thing that impressed me was the calendars and messages notification sound – they are fairly loud so you can here them easily and it is also possible to crank the volume upp even further. It is hearing aid compatible and if you have a poor eyesight there is an option to make the text even larger.
With the help of a dedicated button on the phone you can access the camera. With one click you open the camera application and with another you take a phone. This is one of those cameras where you can be happy with the quality when you forward these as an MMS to your friends and family or export via Bluetooth to another device.
What I did like was the ICE function (it stands for in case of emergency) built into the menu and is also saved as a contact in your phone book. Here you enter your name, date of birth, blood type, allergies and two emergency contacts.
The Doro PhoneEasy 615 is a great phone that does exactly what it needs. If you are looking for a phone that meets your needs and does exactly what is described you can not go wrong with this phone. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and one thing is certain if you pick it up you will be happy with the phone.
